Human trafficking has become a 32 billion dollars industry worldwide and is expected to surpass illegal drugs and weapons sales within ten years.
According to the ILO 250 mio children between 5 and 14 worldwide are forced to work of whom 80 mio in so bad conditions that they can be called slaves. They work without a salary and are often victims of bad treatment or in best cases they are "just" underpaid. Every country is affected. In proportion Asia, Africa and South America are were most of forced labour children can be found then comes North America and Europa.
This children work in factories, in the sex industry, farms, do domestic labour, drug trafficking, are soldiers, beggars for mafias...
Main causes are poverty, forced marriage and kidnapping.
The World Day against Child Labour will be celebrated on 12 June 2010.
